Our history

The Great Life Company since 1982

It all began in 1982 with the buying of Bjørnsgard by Bogstadvannet lake in Oslo. Later Harahorn in the upper part of Hemsedal was rebuilt, and opened in 1992. Kleivstua in Krokskogen was added in 1997, followed by Røisheim in 1998. In year 2000 The Great Life Company came to Lofoten with the acquisition of Henningsvær Bryggehotell, Kabelvåg Hotel, and Nyvågar Rorbuhotell. The same year Skagen Gaard by Saltstraumen was included in The Great Life Company. The modern design hotel Skarsnuten in Hemsedal followed in 2003. Five years later both Grefsenkollen restaurant in Oslo and Trugstad Gård in Nannestad were redecorated and opened. Culinary Academy with some of Norway’s very best cooks, wine experts, and chefs, also joined The Great Life Company in 2008. Grann hotel became part of The Great Life Company in 2004. During the course of the years considerable sums have been invested in creating and upgrading these places to become unique and beautiful meeting places for Norwegian and foreign businesses, organisations, and private persons.
