The history

Farm culture brought to Bogstadvannet lake

The history of Bjørnsgard is varied; it is about the married couple Anton Raabe and Tore Segelcke, their life at Bjørnsgard and a rare collection of buildings and furniture from the old Norwegian farm culture. In 1930 Anton Raabe bought a plot by Bogstadvannet lake and moved an old log cabin there. At the same time he discovered that there were many similar log cabins around the countryside that were no longer in use and that would soon be lost, unless somebody took care of them. And so it passed that he moved in all 19 specially selected buildings to Bjørnsgard and saved them for posterity.
