The history
The most important fishing village in Lofoten
Ever since the village owner Dreyer bought the fishing and market village in 1842, Henningsvær has been the largest and most important fishing village in Lofoten. The entire harbour is surrounded by wooden piers and fish landing stations. Next door to Henningsvær Bryggehotell is “Damperiet”, a 100 year old cod liver oil factory which today functions as a rustic and charming restaurant for groups.
