The history

Built as a manor farm

It was in 1624 that Klaus Brokkenhuus built his manor farm, Skagen Gaard. Since then the house has been extended several times. It was run as an agricultural farm until 1971. In 1907 the farm was bought by Bodin council, to be used first as a pauper house, and later as a nursing home. For a couple of decades, starting in 1971, Skagen Gaard was used as a holiday camp, until Alf-Eirik and Kristin Hansen from Bodø bought the place in 1994.
